A (Pretty Useless) Social Media Case Study

June 12th, 2011

Social Media Today is a very good blog, and I don’t know anything about Eric Goldstein, so I hope they’ll forgive me when I suggest that Justin Bieber: A Social Media Case Study is a waste of pixels.

Because I believe that when you’re a global phenomenon like Justin Bieber, there’s nothing easier than social media. The kid has more than 10 million Twitter followers. That has absolutely nothing to do with any sort of social media strategy and everything to do with Bieber simply flicking the on switch to a Twitter account.

The social media case studies I want to see are the ones where an unknown business uses social media tools and tactics to triple its gross income for the year. Or massively cut its customer care costs. Or something else where a real strategic and thoughtful approach to using social media tools is demonstrated.

Sorry: Bieber ain’t it.
