I log on to my main AOL account to check my email (336 unread messages — yikes!), and I see the banner ad above. Just for fun, thinking maybe it’s a fly-by-night company that won the lottery and was able to afford a few ads on AOL, I see that it’s actually NBC Universal On Demand. I clicked on the banner, because I wanted to see if the blatant typo (“floping”?!) carried over to the site, but I was prompted to download Adobe flash plug-in version 8. Never mind.

Takeaway for marketers: Spelling counts. And by the way, don’t make a potential customer work (i.e. go through a download or upgrade process) just to see your ad.
