Does The Photo Disturb You?
December 2nd, 2012It evidently disturbed some people enough that it was deleted from Facebook for being too demeaning, though after reading the Huffington Post piece about the incident it seems pretty clear that it’s more an issue of comments about the photo being far more demeaning than the photo itself.
If that’s the case, then go ahead and delete the comments. The photo itself is no more or less demeaning than, oh, about 1,569,473 images you’ll find whizzing past your Facebook feed every day or so.
If the photo were part of an art project site and not a men’s magazine site, and were accompanied by dozens of comments about what a great commentary on this and that it was, how Dali would have loved it, and on and on, you can bet the photo would never have been deleted.
And so it goes.
