The Actor Behind the Ad, Part 5

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Those Education Connection ads are top of my Most Irritating Ads list right now; every time I see one, I pine for the days of Steve Wilkos croaking, “Need cash fast?” for GoldRush.

Who is the ubiquitous girl in the pajamas? Her name is Kelly Huddleston, and her IMDB listing says she was in an episode of Mad Men.

PodCamp Philly 2010: Be There

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Last year, I called PodCamp Philly “easily one of the best professional events I’ve ever been to.” That includes a ton of ad:tech and Jupiter conferences over the past 15 or so years.

What’s PodCamp? “PodCamp is a Barcamp-style community unconference for anyone interested in podcasting, blogging, video-casting and social media,” says the site.

In other words, it’s a couple of days of people from all sides of digital media getting together to talk about what people from all sides of digital media do. And you don’t have to be a podcaster to get plenty out of the sessions.

This year it’s being held October 2 and 3 at Temple. Get more info and register over here. For 20 bucks you’ll probably get more out of the weekend than you will from, say, ad:tech New York, which can run you well over a grand.

See you there!

… and customer relationship management. Brad Colbow absolutely nails it.

(Hat tip to my brother for the heads up on this one.)

Takeaway for marketers: Once again, it’s not about what you want, it’s about what your customers want.

“Hell’s brewin’ dark sun’s on the rise
This storm’ll blow through by and by
House is on fire, Viper’s in the grass
A little revenge and this too shall pass
This too shall pass, I’m gonna pray
Right now all I got’s this lonesome day”
