E-Commerce Times reports on the growth of mobile marketing.

The good news is that the best-in-breed example cited is about creating iPhone apps that enable people to request coupons and information, keeping the customer in power over the information they receive.

The bad news is that for every best-in-breed company respecting your handset, there are dozens who will try and push messaging to your phone without your consent.

If you think it’s annoying to pay 12 bucks for a movie ticket only to see a half hour of ads before the flick, just wait till your text message inbox is jam-packed with sales pitches from Omaha Steaks and VistaPrint.
