Video Is Killing the Radio Star … Again

October 29th, 2008

Except these days it’s Web killing the print stars … over and over again.

You may recall the story a few months ago when the Editor-In-Chief of the Tampa Tribune noted, “People need to stop looking at TBO.com as an add on to The Tampa Tribune. The truth is that The Tampa Tribune is an add on to TBO.”

Point being, of course, that pixels are supplanting dead trees as the information carrier of choice.

Some publishing entities are eschewing print entirely — with the Christian Science Monitor reporting yesterday that next year, “the Monitor will become the first nationally circulated newspaper to replace its daily print edition with its website; the 100 year-old news organization will also offer subscribers weekly print and daily email editions.”

Yet another huge signpost on the road to wherever it is all this is headed.
