The Seinfeld-Gates Show: Canceled

The first Microsoft spot featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates made no sense. The second spot ran 4-1/2 minutes online and started to flesh out the storyline so that it started to make sense.

Too little too late: AdAge reports that the campaign is history, replaced by one that aggressively attacks the PC stereotype so brilliantly developed in Apple’s Mac/PC ads — and starts with an image of "PC guy" John Hodgman.

Bruce Clay Inc. has posted an article entitled The 7 Deadly Sins of Social Media that is a good read (and reality check) particularly for the CMO who wants to get involved in these sorts of online marketing tactics but doesn’t really quite know what’s involved.

Takeaway for marketers: There’s a lot more nuance to navigating social media than most people realize.
