Virtual Worlds 2008

I spent yesterday at Virtual Worlds 2008 in New York City. The show has its own blog, but unlike the ad:tech blog, it’s more about logistics and less about content. Too bad. The sessions I attended were pretty poor, but I missed one that received raves from several people I spoke with: “Case Study: Virtual Worlds Promotion Strategies of Rapper 50 Cent.” I’d like to be able to read some insight into what I missed.

After that session, I joined Dr. Jim Bower and Erin Edgerton from the CDC in a panel presentation, “Case Study: Business Models of Whyville.net.” Considering it was the last session on a Friday afternoon, the number of attendees who stuck around to hear what we had to say was pretty impressive. I trust they felt it was worth it — we provided actual data, and there was nary a buzzword spoken from the table.

A secret sauce for portfolio management?

TechCrunch alerts us to Snap Hot Shots which, assuming it isn’t an extremely elaborate April Fools’ Day prank, attempts to capture the “linkgeist” of the Web ala Google Zeitgeist.

I can’t help but wonder: Is there any correlation between hot and cold Stock Shots and rising and falling stock prices? Hmmmm …
