Mad Men, premiering tonight at 10 p.m. on AMC, is a new dramatic series from Matthew Weiner, writer and executive producer of The Sopranos. Set in New York City in 1960, it tells the story of The Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency during a time when three-martini lunches were the norm and being an adman was perhaps the sexiest job going (sorta like being a Web marketer and blogger is today, I suppose). I was watching a “making of” show on AMC the other night, and Mad Men looks like it could be some serious must-see teevee. One thing’s for sure: This ain’t gonna be McMann and Tate.
This is worth about three minutes of your time.
As someone whose first purchased music was the vinyl LP version of Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, I find this story out of the UK encouraging.
