James Clavell

“To think bad thoughts is really the easiest thing in the world. If you leave your mind to itself it will spiral down into ever increasing unhappiness. To think good thoughts, however, requires effort. This is one of the things that discipline — training — is about.”

Barney Google, with the goo-goo-googly eyes ...

Frustrated by search? You’re not alone. According to InfoSpace, which is trying to raise the profile of Dogpile, “between 38 and 46 percent of all searches fail to elicit a click on a first-page search result, dont meet users needs and drive users to try additional engines.”

My solution (sorry, Dogpile): Use CrossEngine, formerly Mr. Sapo.

What up, chicken butt?!

Dudemail launched yesterday.

I’ve been up to my kajeet eyeballs in Dudemail development for the last several months. The process has, more than once, prompted me to refer to a classic Ronald Reagan quote: In 1983, in response to suggestions about delaying his tax cut, Reagan said, “You’re making me crap a pineapple.”

Ah, The Great Communicator.

Meanwhile, Dudemail is a pretty sweet pineapple, the Gipper notwithstanding. Give it a try. The pre-recorded “chicken butt” message in step three is my favorite. Or give the text-to-speech function a whirl.

Come on, you must know 20 or 30 people who could use a good chuckle.

43Things

43 Things is a fascinating site, in a way similar to how Postsecret is fascinating, though not nearly as dark or troubling.

“Stop procrastinating” is the thing people want to do more than anything else, as evidenced by the tag cloud on their home page. No wonder “Just do it” resonates so well for Nike.
